The Orchard Planning Approved!

We are thrilled to announce that The Orchard has received full planning consent.

This project is a significant milestone for our growing practice, and a successful planning outcome on such a complex and sensitive urban site is a testament to the creativity and dedication of our team and collaborators.

The unique site for this self-build project is within the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark, a short walk the famous 630-mile long South Devon Coast Path, and 50 metres from the entrance to Kents Cavern, a natural cave known as ‘Britain’s Oldest Home’ where mankind can be traced back over 500,000 years.

Some words from our clients:

“Our brief was ambitious, with plenty of unknowns from the outset. Most significantly, the feasibility of building on the site with such proximity to an internationally significant historic site with UNESCO status was an uncertainty which StudioFolk helped navigate."

"We wanted a home that combines and enhances the natural environment, its coastal and village setting, but affords a screen to both be protected from, but to enjoy, the successful visitor attraction on our doorstep. StudioFolk worked closely with us to find pragmatic and creative resolutions to these issues."

"StudioFolk’s drive and attention to detail throughout the process has resulted in a design which exceeds our expectations, is affordable, and we look forward to working closely with them as our new home takes shape.”

The Orchard has been featured in leading industry press this year due to the successful planning approval on such a complex site. A big thank you to our clients and the whole project team for the efforts so far, and we look forward to commencing on site in the new year.
